Did anyone else get the notifacation that pokemon inventory has been expanded to 3,000?!

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 01:43 PM PST

Is this a rocket event maybe, like they hacked last time or so? I mean theres no way niantic cares about us to give us more storage at all. Let alone so much. So what gives? Was this an effort and they meant 300? Would they offer comp to those who've bought space or what????????

What's even going on am I insane?

Edit: I got my answer and I realise you gotta pay. I was just so hyped for a moment. Rip.

A Research Project about Pokémon GO?!!!!!

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 06:52 AM PST

Hi! I'm Mia Zhang, student at University College London, collecting Pokémon Go stories for my fun-fun-fun university project!

For the next few weeks, every Saturday, friends on this forum who want to join my project will receive 5 short questions via email. These easy-to-answer questions will help me to understand your Pokémon Go adventures during the week preceding that Saturday. I need 4 successive weeks per participant, to catch longer time windows for your adventures. Why? Because I don't want just "episodes," I want a full 4-week "series" of your adventure! The only criterion is that you are currently employed (full-time or part-time).

Don't worry, your stories will be fully anonymised and will not be identifiable, because my university asks me to abide by GDPR.

I love this game! And I want to make this project fun for you and for me. Please join my pool of stories! I can't wait to learn what you have been up to!

If you are interested, please contact me: [mia.zhang.17@ucl.ac.uk](mailto:mia.zhang.17@ucl.ac.uk)

After three years, I finally completed the Kanto dex

It's good to finally complete it at last. Probably the only one I complete unless regionals get events like what happened with the eggs.

Older players of Pokemon Go, do you care sometimes about what others think?

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 09:11 PM PST

Im in my 20s and sometimes I feel like though I enjoy the game, is playing the game making me seem really immature because pokemon was originally intended for kids. For the older players of this game, how do you rationale behind this that's its okay for a grown man to care about catching tiny imaginary creatures. Like it sounds ridiculous thinking about it but at the same it is fun.

PSA: Niantic Wayfarer and Sending in Quality Nominations (new stops/waypoints)

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 05:42 AM PST

Niantic Wayfarer went live in the US ten days ago on November 13 for PokemonGo. In that time, I have completed almost 750 reviews for new waypoints. I've submitted 3 new stop nominations, and they are all still in voting.

There is an entire subreddit dedicated not only to /r/NianticWayfarer , but also to what we 'lovingly' refer to as /r/WayfarerCoal . Wayfarer Coal are submissions that are low quality, low effort, or just absolute trash.

Unfortunately, there is no requirement/test to submit waypoint nominations, other than simply reaching level 40 in PokemonGo. Although I wish this wasn't the case, we all know how readily Niantic listens to and implements feedback (/s), so I'd like to share a couple notes of the most common issues that the reviewers are seeing.

    *** Poor Quality Photos ***

°GET OUT OF YOUR CAR. This is an actual requirement if you read the submission guidelines

°Avoid photos at night unless it somehow adds to the quality of the point of interest (POI)

°Blurry photos, photos with your fingers on the lens, photos with a person in them, are all considered low quality

*** Submissions on Residential Property ***

°Automatic denial. It does not matter at all what the POI is; whether it's a cool stained glass window or a free little library, according to Niantic guidelines there should be absolutely no POIs on single family residential properties. This has a lot to do with the recent lawsuit that concluded.

°Submissions in apartment complexes/condo complexes/multifamily housing units are allowed, but still need to meet all other criteria.

    *** Pity Submissions ***

°'My area doesn't have a lot of stops' is NOT a valid reason to submit your local grocery store sign or fast food chain as a waypoint.

°Wayfarer is for Ingress and PokemonGo, this isn't all about you and your desire for more pokestops. The supporting reasons section for your submission is NOT a spot to beg for stops, it a spot to validate why you are making the submission. If your only validation is lack of stops, it's probably not a valid submission and you are wasting your, and everyone else's, time.

°That being said, reviewers are allowed to consider rural submissions more leniently. Memorial benches, plaques, and other less interesting/less culturally significant objects are more likely to be approved in rural areas with a low density of stops.

°Your dog/cat/horse/hampster is super cute! It's also not a valid waypoint.

*** XXX is a stop now, why wasn't my submission for XXX approved?! ***

°Submission guidelines/requirements for new waypoints have changed significantly since stops first started getting added. This is why it is important to make sure you read and understand the current submission guidelines.

Will some things that shouldn't get approved still make it through? Of course. The reviewers are free labor for Niantic, not trained professionals.

Will some things that SHOULD get approved NOT make it through? Unfortunately, yes, and for the same reasons. Make a strong argument for your submission. Use the Google Street View app to submit a new photosphere to support your submission. Reviewers aren't going to trust you when you say 'this is new' and the Google Street view is from a few years ago.

For the most part, reviewers and submitters have the same goal in mind - to improve the quality of the game, and to make the game more fun for everyone. This post isn't meant to be preachy or condescending, but simply to share some of the more common themes that are presenting currently. Quality submissions will help to avoid a backlog from generating (in most areas there was a significant backlog that existed from prior Ingress submissions), which negatively impacts the game for everyone.

Edit - on mobile sorry for crummy formatting

    This game changes lives

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 10:05 AM PST

I just want to tell you guys, around July of last year, one of our most prominent players of our city bought a cell phone for his uncle, he did this because he wanted to stop drinking, but he needed something to keep his mind busy. So he introduced his uncle to Pokemon Go. Ever since, Yo (as we call him) has managed to keep sober, and today, a few minutes ago, he reached the top and is officially the 4th person to become level 40 in our town! (even before me lol)

For many of you, this game may be just something to do when bored, but to us it has a special meaning, it helped our friend to rescue one of his own out of a miserable life.

It would mean a lot to me if you guys could reply with a simple "Boa Yo!" (means "Nice Yo") in Portuguese, since he doesn't speak English.

Thank you for your time reading my post.

Edit: I cannot thank you enough guys. He had no idea a place as reddit existed, and both him and his nephew, my friend, were on the verge of tears once they saw the amount of BOA YO that you guys send him. Truly thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.

    Glad I worked overtime tonight

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 08:35 AM PST

Was supposed to end work at 18:30 earlier today but as usual, I ended up having to work overtime due to unfinished tasks and I finally only left the office about 2 hours later.

I guess it was worth it however because on the bus ride on my way home, I finally encountered and caught a shiny Ponyta! Seems like there was a silver lining in having to work OT tonight after all.

Small tips : Save your giovanni rader

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 02:18 AM PST

With the rocket takeover in Sunday I am sure a lot of people will finish their rocket task and get their Giovanni radar, just remember you can save your radar and only battle the decoy rocket members, they will drop Mysterious Components for you, this way you can grind extra Mysterious Components to get Rocket Radar to battle the rocket leaders.

The rocket leaders will give you Max Potion, Max Revive and most importantly Unova stone.

Also remember to use a star piece before fighting Giovanni.

P.S Fight Giovanni before 1st of December to get your shadow Articuno

Pokemon Go Plus / Gotcha needs a solution??

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 11:43 PM PST

Is it just me or are there other users out that are using Pokemon Go Plus / Gotcha and are having issues connecting?.. I have seen multiple videos but mine simply does not connect on the first attempt. Your thoughts?

I feel like I’m missing something from the team rocket go battles.

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 12:23 PM PST

Genuine question, what's the benefit of beating the admins? It's a lot of work to find and battle them, and their Pokémon hit you like a truck. For winning, you just get a couple of healing items and a shadow version of a Pokémon I already have in excess. Are the shadow versions of Meowth, Sneasle, and Scyther really good competitively?

What happened with the “review community day hours” in Brazil?

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 08:14 AM PST

So in October 18th niantic posted on the Brazilian site site and on twitter that they were aware about the problem that was community day during noon here in Brazil and while they couldn't do anything about November community day they would look to change for December.

Since then we heard nothing about it, it's been more than a month already, December community day is almost here and everything is still schedule to 11-14.

    First Unexpected Shiny!

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 05:44 PM PST

I reached the last few episodes of Haikyuu! season 2 and decided to go out for a walk. Coincidentally, there was this Murkrow near a gym (also the first gym I actually defeated lol, didn't know you had to bring down the heart of all pokes to 0) and it was shiny. (The main characters in Haikyuu! were being compared to crows so yeah lol)

A sad goodbye to pokemon go

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 08:02 AM PST

Due to my own stupidity I am no longer able to sign in to my account. I can't remember my email/recovery email or phone number at the time, so I have no way to recover. Niantic have genuinely tried to help me out but I understand there is no way to prove that it is my account. Had some brilliant experiences with the Pokemon community especially during the community days and regigigas event. wish you all the best for the future.

(TIL) Double Tap to Zoom In/Out

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 08:44 PM PST

I was today years old when I learned that double tapping your screen then either sliding up or down can zoom in/out with only using one hand.

Pretty handy if your other hand is occupied!

What’s the deal with Omanyte and rock throw?

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 07:04 AM PST

Not sure what's so great about it. I have one with the rock throw and Poke Genie gives it a A defense and attack rating. Why? I know it didn't have it in the comics.

    Edit: Omastar not Omanyte
