Niantic removing babies and re-releasing them as 'events'

So babies like Pichu and Togepi were removed from the 7km egg pool way back in February, and have been absent all year. That's around 16 Pokémon that cannot be accessed in any way, most of which can also be shiny. In particular the Togepi line functionally does not exist since Togetic is one of the rarest spawns in the game.

My young son recently started playing and asked how he could get a Pichu or Togepi, and I just had to shrug and say maybe one day.

And now we see why. The most recent line up of events include a small selection of babies in eggs - for a limited time only of course! If you're lucky you might hatch a shiny Pichu! Buy some incubators.

Most recently we had Bonsly, shortly we'll have Pichu and Mantyke, and the November community days will have Magby and Elekid. I'm sure The rest will make gradual appearances over the next year or so, and you can count on the likes of Togepi coming with insanely low hatch odds.

Niantic has been increasingly focused on limited time events to exploit FOMO and drive up sales, but even by their standards this is incredibly lazy and greedy. Removing assets from the game and releasing them later as a reward is absolutely terrible.
