    30 incense for 1 coin

Niantic is being pretty generous with this box. One time purchase for 30 incense.

Instead of just cancelling events, Niantic should make lemonade out of lemons and make a "Lazy Event"

    Posted: 12 Mar 2020 10:42 PM PDT

They can clearly track when people are moving or not, seeing how that's the whole point of the game and how they can track your distance for eggs. So why not an event that incentivizes staying put and quarantining yourself? They would obviously have to account for drift, but that's doable for sure. Just make it so as long as you don't move more than a certain amount you effectively count as stationary for the event. Increase the spawns for lazy or slow pokemon like Slakoth, Slowpoke, Snorlax, maybe have a napping hat pikachu since they seem to like that so much. Put Regigigas in Go Battle League rewards (Slow start), make certain pokemon spawns related to standing still (maybe every few minutes a Slakoth spawns). They could make a Special Research line with tasks like claiming rank rewards in GBL, catching/taking snapshots of Snorlax, Slakoth, etc, and then they could have something neat at the end like a shiny Munchlax encounter or a PvP perfect Vigoroth.

So, as a rural player who can't do 5* raids, I just got a small heartattack

I think it's nice that you can get legendarys from GO league, was trying to get a legendary because I heard that you can get a Giratina this Weekend, certainly not what I expected

This beauty is all that us trainers want. This is all that we strive for during the time that we play this game. It consists of the values that we consider worthy and important.

One Hundred 100% Pokemon! It feels amazing to hit this milestone after playing since launch week.

    Posted: 12 Mar 2020 10:07 AM PDT

    https://imgur.com/gallery/5G97UfG

I've never posted an image here before, but wanted to share an achievement that I'm quite happy about with this great community. The glorious, inspiring, mighty Magikarp marks the milestone for me.

Some relevant info; I play every day for about 2 hours, mostly while walking my dog or commuting. Some of my family members also play, giving me trade partners under the same roof. We live in Toronto, a majorly active area for PoGo with vibrant communities of players.

Here's a breakdown of the hundos I've collected:

    - 11 hatches

    - 12 trades, 6 of which were lucky trades

    - 7 Purified Pokemon

    - 1 Shadow Pokemon (Porygon)

    - 69 hundos caught in the wild or from raids, including 1 Mythical (Darkrai), 1 Legendary (Mewtwo), and an Unown caught at Montreal Safari Zone!

EDIT: Thanks for all the appreciation! I'm glad that so many people are digging my naming scheme too. Thought I'd share some of the more creative nicknames not pictured here.

I'm pretty fond of a my Machamp named "J100estar" after the JJBA anime, a Gengar named "M100rty" after the Ghost gym leader, a Blissey called "Nurse J100y", a Farfetch'd called "D100nald" (as in the Disney duck), and a Probopass "Hundnose."

30 Incense for 1 Pokécoin is awesome

    Posted: 12 Mar 2020 06:14 PM PDT

I've been playing since almost day 1 and I think this is literally the nicest thing Niantic have done for us thus far. While there's plenty of things in the game I'd like to be improved or reworked, I really appreciate this gift and I have to give credit where it's due. So - thanks Niantic!

Now, THIS is how incenses should work

    Posted: 13 Mar 2020 05:17 AM PDT

I like this initiative of reworking the incenses to encourage people to stay home as long as possible. It's a good idea, and Niantic doesn't come up with these ideas very often, so I think we should give them a big thumbs up. But, isn't this the way incenses should've always worked? The only way to make them work was to go on a vehicle while using them, because otherwise it was 80 coins for six sentrets... Not a great deal. Should we shout out to make them work this way permanently?

These incense are about to make us run of pokeballs so quick we could really have a cheap option to get pokeballs at the moment.

    Posted: 13 Mar 2020 06:39 AM PDT

I am not complaining don't get me wrong just teasing how many spawns we are getting with these new incense spawns. It's crazy I might actually run out of pokeballs if I use anymore incense. I am loving the incense duration and spawns but I am going to run out of balls pretty quick. Perhaps we could buy pokeballs in the shop for 1 coin as well?

Increase gym range as far as visibility goes

    Posted: 13 Mar 2020 07:18 AM PDT

Just an idea so people can keep their distance: Set the gym range to the visible range in game, so you can raid in every gym that you see on the map.

It should be easy to do and in the end could even earn them more money, because people will be raiding from home like crazy.

Now the next thing is 1 coin for 1000 pokeballs

    Posted: 13 Mar 2020 12:42 AM PDT

So we have incense. Now we need a lot pokeballs. Maybe 1000 its a lot. At least 500 for sure. What do you think? Do you need pokeballs?

    Suggestion: portable pokestop

    Posted: 13 Mar 2020 08:13 AM PDT

Whilst everyone is inside and unable to go out and play, we are going to run out of pokeballs pretty quickly (mostly due to the incense box). You could make it so that everyone gets a "portable pokestop" that is tied to 1 spot (wherever you activate it). This would not show to other players so people cant group up/group devices and spam pokeballs. Would be a great way to keep up stop streaks and getting gifts. Also allows us to not run out of pokeballs!

Niantic should bring back shiny meltan to replace abra community day

    Posted: 12 Mar 2020 08:09 PM PDT

They could bring it back for about 2 weeks like they did last time. It would also be an interesting pokémon to give a community day move to.

Edit: obviously abra community day would still be held later and meltan would need to come from the boxes every 3 days

Unpopular opinion: Niantic's monetization strategies are very user friendly and fair

    Posted: 12 Mar 2020 03:44 PM PDT

Disclaimer: I do not work for Niantic or have any financial interest in Niantic.

Im a recent grad currently working a low paying salaried position in my field, with not that much discretionary income. I still think that Niantic's monetization strategies are extremely fair to the user. I am tired of seeing people complaining that it is unfair and making very irrational statements. For example, people are complaning about a 99 cent paid research on Community day. What's 99 cent to you for a game you love playing? You probably spend 5 times that daily on a cup of coffee. But 99 cents to support a game you love is too much. The Genesect special research is still very fair. You get a lot of value for your money in the form of in game items and of course the encounter way before every one else. 8.99 is NOTHING for a game you love and support. Everyone complaining please put things in perspective . Supporting a game you love is good; complaining about spending a few dollars occasionally for a game you love is not. It's neither attractive nor reasonable.

Further updates ideas for Niantic to help with the current situation.

    Posted: 13 Mar 2020 03:39 AM PDT

It is bad and it's getting worse.

Niantic started really well with the incense buff and offer. Kudos!

But there are two more changes that I think will make the most out of this bad situation:

    1. Please remove the 3km Battle League requirement: This is a given since Niantic already modified the incense to work better while stationary. At the moment I can only rely on the GPS drift in my home to help me do around 3 battle sets per day.
    2. Please increase drastically the distance at which we can interact with gyms/join raids: Even in the low risk countries we are advised not to leave our homes. The debut of shiny Timburr is useless since we cannot walk to the gyms. Make it so that we are able to join raids from the gyms in our view. Maybe somewhere around 400-500 meters? This would also benefit Niantic from a financial point of view. We can buy passes to do raids.

I really think these would alleviate the situation and reduce the chance of spreading the virus.

    Niantic should stop events everywhere

    Posted: 12 Mar 2020 11:41 AM PDT

With the coronavirus landing in all continents with permanent residents and public gatherings being shut down left and right, the responsible thing would be to stop PoGo players from assembling. Raids should stop, GBL should not require walking and there should definetly be no community days.

Would this hurt their bottom line? Sure, but for example, here in Colombia coronavirus has already infected a few people in three cities. Community days are largely played on malls and parks, where dozens to hundreds of people come, and have a chance to get infected too.

A couple of months until everything is back in control would do wonders. It's not enough to limit it to countries that quarantine themselves.

    Edit: Corrected for Antartica

    Edit2: Niantic followed through.

A new Special Research story event is coming: A Drive to Investigate!

    Posted: 12 Mar 2020 01:02 PM PDT

As a day one rural player, this pretty much makes my year!

    Posted: 13 Mar 2020 08:35 AM PDT

I'm a rural player, so doing 5 star raids is impossible unless I drive 30 minutes to the city and get lucky enough to find a raid group. I saw the news and tried my luck with the GBL. I haven't seen Darkrai, but this is a great shiny too! And my first dex entry for it as well! https://ibb.co/H7BxRNS

How about this month's Raid Pokémon / legendaries in field / special research?

    Posted: 13 Mar 2020 04:28 AM PDT

Here's a suggestion for the folks at Niantic -

With the COVID-19 pandemic in mind, why not open up a few field / special research tasks with this month's Raid bosses (Timburr, Togetic, etc) and legendaries (Darkrai, Cresselia, Giratina, Lugia, etc)? Tying together with the Incense discount, the tasks could be catching a significant amount of Pokémon (say, 10 or 15 of a specific type) and then having the raid boss as a normal encounter reward.

With social distancing protocols and large gathering spaces closed or empty (the Disney parks here in Florida come to mind, closing starting this weekend), it will become very difficult for people to do 3-, 4- or 5-star raids.

    Thoughts?
