There's this Pokéstop/Gym near me which seems inappropriate. Can I report it?

Use this link. However, Niantic seems to be preoccupied with other things now, so don't expect too much.

We have Niantic representatives on both here and /r/TheSilphRoad - please do not ping them for bugs which are in the known issues page unless you have found a niche yet gamebreaking issue/exploit.

I don't mind Pokémon with costumes and hats. Just please make them mass transferrable.

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 04:40 AM PST

Short and bittersweet post. I think it's nice that there is variety and fun things going on. I do. But what I don't like is transferring Pokémon out one by one. Very annoying. And as a person who lives by the ABC (always be catching) law in this game I find it OK to break this one. Take away the mass transfer block. Please.

    My rivalry

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 02:10 AM PST

I live in a decently small town that has 2 pokestops far from each other and one gym in the park that's in the center of the town. Since Pokemon go isn't so popular in my town only I and one other dude fight for the gym (im mystic he is instinct). I always put my castform and his signature Pokemon is spinarak.

Yesterday as I was nearing the gym I saw that it just got taken by him and the spinarak. I would usually let him build up the time for coins but I was feeling spicy so I immediately took the gym back. He then took it again and this went on for a bit.

Now this was early in the morning so I didn't see who it could be but by the time I took the gym the 6th time sun was just rising and I saw another guy playing Pokemon go. Thats when I realised that my spinarak using rival was my friend from when I was in elementary school. I took the gym and walked over to him and called him by his name in Pokemon go. Ofc we recognized eachother and talked for a good hour while catching Pokemon.

We promised to always wait a day before taking the gym and have been talking more because of Pokemon go. Have you ever has a rivalry?

Is there a reason why people put low level and unevolved pokemon into gyms?

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 04:42 AM PST

I see it all the time from lvl40s. Is there a higher coin reward? Because presumably they have enough high level evolved pokemon to spare.

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 05:41 PM PST

Leap Year 2020 was really good to me! Been playing since the beginning and this is only my second hundo.
Even got lucky a couple weekends ago and caught a Ditto for the first time in over 2 years. Great feeling finally getting to advance in 2 special research quests because of it!

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 03:36 AM PST

I've maxed out my 96% Quick Attack -Close Combat Virizion and added a second charge move (Leaf Blade) because it is serving me very well in Master League and I sort of developed a connection with it . Today I've learnt that they are releasing Cobalion with signature move Sacred Sword ! I'm sure Virizion will be next in line . As a semi rural player with limited resources I'm distraught ....

I accidentally wasted 75k stardust on a 2nd Hat Eevee move...

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 06:29 PM PST

First and foremost, why is the New Attack button still on the screen in the first place? They moved it so it's not even with the X button, but its still underneath it when its moves arent weather boosted.

Secondly, why the hell is EEVEE of all things 75k stardust for a new move? That's the same as Dragonite and Tyranitar.

I've been grinding dust all week. Catching everything I saw to get my dust back up after powering stuff up for GBL, and I just wasted it all. I was trying to transfer it, but the menu didn't come up when I pressed it, but i was talking to a friend and didn't pay close enough attention, so when it prompted me for a Yes or No, i said Yes, thinking i was transfering it...

This is largely my fault, but seriously, why is EEVEE 75k stardust for a second move?! (End Rant)

    Precious flower crowns

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 07:31 AM PST

I love how the game makes me jump through 9 hoops to transfer out a flower crown Eevee or part hat wurmple, but if I want to dump a level 40 tyranitar, it's gone! They really understand our priorities so well.

Niantic's Missed Opportunity: The Case for Courting Rural and Solo Players

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 02:19 PM PST

    Preface

A non-insignificant portion of the player base fall into the category of either rural or solo players for one reason or another. Niantic's recent behavior pattern displays a growing negligence of this portion of the base as we can see from the removal of Legendary Pokemon from research breakthrough to less obvious slights like moving a regular 2-star Lickitung raid to a 4-star and giving it access to bodyslam.

Before the pitchforks are brought out and I get shouted down because PoGo is supposed to be a "Social Game" by nature, let me give you another phrase people who defend Niantic/Pokemon with, "THIS IS A BUSINESS NOT A CHARITY!!" With that in mind, we can begin discussing how neglecting the rural and solo players is a lost opportunity for Niantic to not only foster a healthy player base but also earn money.

How can Niantic engage the portion of the base which are most likely least interested in spending on money on PoGo? Raiding, PVP, Quest/Research changes, Egg pool changes

    Raiding

As it stands, raiding is an afterthought to for most people who can only field a small group or are playing solo.

Solution 1: Make lower level raids more frequent and desirable

In areas that never get groups of people doing 5-star raids, spamming them with these useless raids does nothing for Niantic or the players near these gyms.

*Sidenote: The lobby needs to be overhauled so we can skip the countdown

Having more lower level raids (1-3*) in these spots makes a lot of sense. To attract trainers to spend their daily and reach for premium passes, relevant and desirable Pokemon need to be put in them more often. These should be rarer Pokemon, Pokemon with raid relevance, gym defense, special attacks, and of course PVP prowess. Good examples already are Machamp, Achu, Timburr, and others that make people want to get off their couch.

Solution 2: Scalable 5-star raids via paid pass

Put your shiny Giratina away angry raiders and listen for a moment. This may be the most polarizing suggestion; however, having a special raid pass to scale a raid to a single person encounter is good for the players and good for business.

Don't get me wrong, I do not think this should turn Darkrai into a 2-star breeze. Having restrictions such as only level 38+ can purchase and making it difficult to the point of needing to have a team of near maxed out Mons to have a chance is a must. It should be more difficult than raiding in a group.

This not only incentivizes these players to reach a higher level but also makes raiding lower level raids to get strong Pokemon to challenge the big boss 5 star feel desirable and becomes a satisfying progression. Additionally it encourages PVPers to raid because it allows them an opportunity to get some top meta picks.

    PVP

For me, PVP has totally brought my interest into the game as it is something I can do on my own and be successful. The Go League has been great but there are some changes to the reward system and acquiring PVP mons that could pull more into this fun aspect.

*Sidenote: Fix all the lag and other battling issues

Solution 1: Make PVP rewards more desirable

I love the reward structure so far, but some minor changes could make buying premium passes much more desirable.

Removing the starters from the encounter pool is priority number 1. Grinding out wins or risking a premium pass only to get a Tepig feels awful. Instead add in a few more PVP relevant choices and possibly add a choice between 2 encounters

Adding a mystery reward for 5 wins would also help. It could be a TM or an encounter with a stronger pool of Pokemon

Solution 2: Tournaments and End of Season Rewards

The Silph Cup tournaments are an amazing idea and Niantic should learn from this. It helps remove the monotony of the meta by banning Pokemon or adding stipulations. Using an entrance fee and having a range of prizes makes players want to spend/buy coins and reach for cool prizes.

Each rank should have its own announced reward to motivate players to try harder and play more. It's that simple.

    Egg Pool and Quest/Breakthrough Changes

As of late, the egg pool events have been awful and a lot of the egg pool in general is filled with so much filler it's incredibly discouraging to even try.

I realize this is a general critique rather than one that would help a neglected player base, but the egg events need a complete rework. Having a Raiders week and a PVP week (NOT A WEEKEND) would be great. Hatching a Meditite instead of the Deino you were looking for feels much better than hatching Vulpix after walking 7km.

Quest changes is another easy opportunity to give some love to raiders, pvpers, and collectors. Culling the plethora of garbage quests like "Win a Raid get some freakin nanners" and adding in more interesting rewards is a must. More creative quest rewards such as, "Defeat a Timburr raid and gain 10 Timburr candy" pushes the player toward raiding. Additionally, making PVP focused quests give PVP focused rewards or Mons is a easy fix.

    BREAKTHROUGHS

To the people who, "already have a million Kyogre and would rather have Ferroseed/Woobat" now is not your time to shine. Making Legendary Pokemon accessible is imperative to keep players interested who can't raid or don't want to. Please note that I am not saying they should be giving away Shiny Shadowball Mewtwo, those rewards should be kept to raiders. Having year old raid Legendaries available is a small ask that would mean the world to many players.

    Conclusion

My suggestions are not resource intensive or require much effort on Niantic's side, yet could easily increase their revenue without impacting people already paying.

Save the Rural and Solo Trainers. FOR THE MONEY!

Should be happy when getting a shiny, sadly that wasn't the case today

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 02:13 AM PST

Today I woke up to hatching a 7km egg. You probably allready know what this is a about, I got a shiny Charmander.

Now usually this is great because then I can get that awesome black Charizard, but that isn't the case with this one ... Forever cursed with a petit party hat on his head.

As some of the others have allready suggested please give us an option to remove the party hat or even a better option, to evolve the pokemon with the partyhat still on... These hats shouldnt be so heavy that they prevent a pokemon from growing! That is pokeabuse!!!

    Thanks!

Noob question of a returning player

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 08:02 AM PST

    Hello everyone!

First of all, I've played the game a lot when it first came out but I've left it alone a couple years and just returned, so a lot of things are very new to me. My question would be that even tho I'm only lvl 29, whenever I try to go against other players, it would only let me compete in the master legue with no cp limit where I get my teeth kicked in each match due to the large difference. (I'm trying to get charged and fast tms to change my movesets). The first 2 leagues dont even show up as options. Thanks for reading and potential answers!

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 06:04 PM PST

Anyone else notice in the past week the app causing severe battery drain? I haven't even opened it since yesterday afternoon and it says the app has been using my battery for the past 11 hours straight (the last time I took my phone off the charger)

Usually my phone can go 48 hours without charging but today I had to charge after 12...

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 07:18 AM PST

A blue party hat with white pin stripes with a white flare pom and a little blue ribbon on the neck! Now the party hats will be able to stay on through evolution! Or we just get the opportunity to take the hat and put it on someone else
